Own database performance tuning and optimization for SQL Server versions 2016 to 2022 in Azure hosted and IaaS VM environments, including Azure SQL Database and Managed Instance.
Monitor and troubleshoot database performance issues in production, disaster recovery, and test environments, collaborating with application teams to identify and resolve MSSQL bottlenecks and ensure high availability, scalability, and security.
Establish and enforce standards for application database design, code reviews, and operational procedures to maintain performance, security, and integrity across hybrid cloud environments.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical field.
8+ years working hands-on with MS SQL Server (2016-2022) and Azure SQL environments including IaaS and managed instances in a 24x7 production setting.
Strong expertise in SQL Server performance tuning using tools like SolarWinds, Query Store, Extended Events, and advanced query tuning techniques.
Experience with database high availability, disaster recovery, replication, encryption, backup and restore in hybrid cloud environments.
Experienced in both on-premise and Azure cloud-based SQL Server performance engineering and troubleshooting at scale.
Proficient in working closely with application and engineering teams to drive technical standards and operational best practices for database performance and reliability.
Able to independently define and implement database performance and code standards aligned with enterprise security and operational policies.
