Technical Design System Lead

Own and drive the strategic direction and roadmap of a large-scale design system to ensure consistency, accessibility, and adoption across design and engineering teams at Taylor & Francis.

Design, build, and maintain a comprehensive, accessible component library and token architecture aligned with evolving product domains and platform capabilities.

Collaborate closely with engineering and design teams to bridge implementation gaps, maintain documentation, establish governance, and support adoption without creating bottlenecks.

Significant experience building and scaling design systems within large consumer-facing product organizations.

Proficient in front-end engineering with ability to write clean, tested, accessible React (or equivalent) components in modern codebases.

Advanced skills in design tokens, semantic token architecture, theming, and Figma component/library management.

Must live within commuting distance to Bengaluru with availability for minimum 3 days per week in-office; right to work and live in India required.

Experienced design system leader who treats the system as a product with roadmap, metrics, and strategic vision, not just a static library.

Strong hybrid design-engineering background with a rare combination of design sensibility and technical execution ability in React and component documentation tools (e.g., Storybook).

Effective cross-functional collaborator able to translate technical constraints to designers and design decisions to engineers, supporting scalable adoption and accessibility compliance.
